NO Trail Dedication This Month !
(Aug. 16 Field Trip Still On)
Beginning next week and lasting until November there will be major construction near the Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center (the Wastewater) headquarters. The buildings and driveways will be closed, the entrance road from there east to Swanson will be barricaded, and the birding trails will be inaccessible. This is very unfortunate for our previously- planned dedication of the George Wickstrom trail because it will be postponed (probably until next year) even though the trail has been usable since last spring's storm damage was repaired.
We still plan to have our monthly field trip on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025. Now we will meet at 8:00 a.m. just inside the Maple Island Road entrance and bird the uneffected areas (the rapid filtration lagoons, the big lagoons, the fields, the granery, etc.). This trip will be mostly by car, so having a walkie-talkie tuned to Channel 11, Subchannel 0 will be helpful (but is not necessary). We will be stepping out of our vehicles often.
Due to the construction areas mentioned above and the closure of Wastewater properties south of Apple Ave., this trip probably will end around 11:00 a.m. The public is welcome. We hope to see you there.
