At last night's meeting Charlie DeWitt presents brother Feller with his award for winning the 4-person 2011 "Most Species Seen in Michigan" contest. Feller's 216 beat out Charlie, Kathryn Mork and Ric Pedler.

Muskegon County Nature Club

In the late 1930's Muskegon High School biology teacher Ann Verne Fuller took her students on nature hikes. With encouragement from the school librarian, naturalist Margaret Drake Elliott, some of the students continued those hikes after school.
Originally the club met at the Muskegon County Museum in the Vanderlaan School: later in the old jail building. Through many years and many people it evolved into today's Muskegon County Nature Club, an official chapter of Michigan Audubon.
We meet nine months a year, from September through April usually at 7:15 p.m. in the Roosevelt Park Community Building (corner of Glenside & Roosevelt). In May we have a potluck meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the picnic pavilion at Hoffmaster State Park (state park sticker required).
We conduct monthly fieldtrips all year (every Saturday following each meeting, and on the third Saturday of the non-meeting summer months).
Most of our members are bird-watchers. Some are involved in citizen-science.
We would enjoy meeting you in person sometime. Meetings and Field Trips are free and open to the public.
Once you meet us (we're really very friendly), you may want to become a member. Dues are $15.00 per year. Benefits include aforementioned friendship plus an excellent monthly newsletter.
